Your friends watch it in the chat, with a preview and a play button. No download, no "what's this file", no upload limit.

Questions

Is it free?

Yes. A free account records clips up to 1 minute, and they stay online for 30 days. Premium records up to 10 minutes and keeps clips forever. The first 25 accounts are grandfathered: Premium for life, for free.

Why do I need an account?

So your clips belong to you: you can see them all in one place, delete them, and keep them when you reinstall or switch computers. Sign-in takes one click with Discord or Google, or you can use your email.

Windows warned me about the installer

Clipiao is new and its installer isn't code-signed yet, so Windows shows "Windows protected your PC". Click More info, then Run anyway.

What does Clipiao need on a Mac?

One permission: Screen & System Audio Recording, which covers both your screen and the sound your Mac plays. The first time you record, Clipiao opens a small window with a button that goes straight to the right switch in System Settings and ticks itself off once it's on. The microphone and camera are only asked for if you use them.

Where do my clips go?

Straight to your link, so anyone you send it to can watch. Clipiao doesn't keep copies on your PCMac: while a clip uploads it sits in a temporary file that is deleted right after.

Can I show my face?

Yes. The camera button on the toolbar adds a round webcam bubble that you can drag anywhere and double-click to resize. The little arrow next to it picks the camera.

Can it take screenshots?

Yes. Press Ctrl Shift 4⌃ ⇧ 4 (or pick your own shortcut in Settings), drag a box, and the link to the picture is copied the moment you let go. In Discord it shows up as the picture itself.

Can it record sound?

Yes. The speaker button on the toolbar records what your PCMac plays, and the mic button adds your voice. The little arrow next to the mic lets you pick which microphone.

Can I change the shortcut or the quality?

Yes. Open Settings from the Clipiao icon in the taskbar traythe menu bar, or from the gear on the toolbar. You can pick your own shortcut, record at 60 or 30 FPS, cap the resolution, stop clips automatically after a set time, choose your microphone and camera, and start Clipiao with Windowsopen Clipiao at login. Premium adds a high quality mode.

Is my data safe?

Your clip links are long and random, aren't listed anywhere, and aren't kept in readable form on our servers. Deleting a clip removes it everywhere, including cached copies. We don't store your IP address with your account, and we don't sell data or show ads. Read more in our privacy policy.

Which version do I have?

Open Settings from the Clipiao icon in the taskbar traythe menu bar: your version is at the top, with a button to check for updates. The tray menu shows it too. Clipiao updates itself quietly in the background whenever you're not recording, so there's nothing to do.
